Assoc. Professor Williams is the Research Director for the Centre for Personalised Analysis of Cancers (CPAC), co-founder of the Queensland Bladder Cancer Initiative (QBCI), and Lead for Tumour Models at the Australian Prostate Cancer Centre – Queensland (APCRC-Q). She is also the Academic Lead for the Histology Core Facility at the Translational Research Institute (TRI).

Her research program is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular basis of prostate and bladder cancer.

 

She has made significant contributions to the understanding of the role of tumour cell plasticity and heterogeneity, as well as the microenvironment, in the metastatic progression of prostate and other cancers.

 

Elizabeth is an expert in the development of novel cancer models from clinical material, as well as the use of clinical material in biomarker and fundamental research.

 

She has over 100 publications, and has been awarded over $14 million in competitive grant funding and is an experienced supervisor of higher degree research students and mentor to early- and mid-career researchers.
