Dr Patrick Thomas completed his Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) and Honours majoring in cancer cell biology at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2011.

 

He completed his PhD in prostate cancer genomics and molecular biology and is now permanently located at the Translational Research Institute as a Research Fellow within the Queensland Bladder Cancer Initiative (QBCI) and Australian Prostate Cancer Research Centre (APCRC-Q).

 

His research, currently supported by the PA Research Foundation, is focused on urological cancers and tumour immunology, with the aim to develop a predictive model for therapy response in bladder and prostate cancer patients.

 

Dr Thomas has been an academic at QUT for 9 years and has taught into over 10 disciplines (including genomics, bioinformatics, pathology and developmental anatomy).

 

He holds the award of Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and is currently a third year Pathophysiology lecturer at University of Southern Queensland (USQ). Dr Thomas is also an active Board Director for Prostate Awareness Australia (PAA) and 9-year Movember veteran.
